Once per month, jazz guitarist and art olive owner Oliver Doering combines a new, high quality session band for the Orange Sunday. Join us for some spontaneous musical adventures from Soul to Jazz at our funky little jazz club with a unique atmosphere.
What would New York be without its famous Jazz sessions? London, Paris and Amsterdam have vibrant music scenes with numerous options to see live jazz. Improvised, unrehearsed Jazz sessions are part of social life. Cologne, on the other hand, has never really developed a strong session culture. The Orange Sunday Session was created by art olive owner and guitarist Oliver Doering who has jammed in Jazz clubs around the world from Sydney to Mexico:
The idea was to offer a platform for musicians to play improvised music in changing combinations of players and a fun venue for the audience to enjoy the spontaneous musical adventures.
The club holds up to 130 people and is often completely packed.
The "Tonkunsthalle" is a converted former warehouse space in the East of Cologne where we created our cultural center with more than 100 rehearsal rooms for bands and the "Klub der Töne". From the upper level the audience has interesting perspectives on the band. Sit back, get a glass of wine or a pizza and listen so some high quality jazz in the exciting atmosphere of the old industrial building. An excellent sound system and comfy couches make a night at the club an enjoyable experience. Here you'll find a new and exciting combination of musicians every first Sunday of the month. Some times funky, sometimes jazzy - every show is a new adventure...
Check out the Orange Sunday Session, no matter if you want to hang out and chill, if you love jazz and want to enjoy some cool players or if you're a musician yourself and want to join in.
